Orientation Day

On Monday, we held the Year 7 2022 Orientation Day, which provided opportunities for students to engage in a wide range of activities. That evening, we welcomed the parents and caregivers who heard from our Heads of Department as they shared an overview of their subject areas. The also heard from our College Captains, Alice and Mia, who spoke about their Clayfield journey and provided insights into student life.

Year 7 and 8 Wellbeing Challenge

As part of the College’s Wellbeing and Foundations curriculum, Years 7 and 8 students will be participating in a “Wellbeing Challenge” to raise funds for Friends With Dignity.

Friends With Dignity is a charity that assists survivors of domestic violence by providing furniture, bedding, clothing, kitchenware and other items for families to use in shelters.  If you would like to know more about this charity, please read on here.

Students will be raising money to create back-to-school kits for children to use early next year.  We know that domestic violence experiences a spike during the Christmas break, and some families may need to seek refuge without time to collect belongings.  Many families do not have the financial means to purchase school resources, so we are providing it for them.

To raise the necessary funds, Years 7 and 8 students will partake in a “Wellbeing Challenge”.  Students have already chosen their challenges and created a flyer that has been sent to their families to seek sponsorship to complete their challenges.  Some of the challenges include more exercise, less screen time before bed, journaling and reading.

If you would like to sponsor your child for this initiative, please make a payment at your discretion on the Pay Online page of the College Website. Instructions on how to pay have been emailed by Mr Desmarchelier earlier this week, and if you have any questions, please reach out to him on jdesmarchelier@clayfield.qld.edu.au.
