Arts

It seems like 100 years ago, but it was actually only ten weeks ago. Arts Week, that is. Well, four days of it. But given how the rest of term played out, we are so happy that we got four days. Before you read any more, have a look below at the collection of photos from Arts Week. How good is it to see actual people at school!

Okay, are you back? So, here is what we got up to. From late Monday until Thursday, an exhibition of Years 7 to 12 Visual Arts was on display. This included an opportunity for families to visit on the Thursday after school, right before we went into yet another snap lockdown. The exhibition was a fitting celebration of all the creative efforts our students have made in the first half of the year. I want to thank all the other Visual Arts teachers for helping me to put this on. Also, thank you to all the students who carried pin boards for us and put up signs and posters.

Tuesday lunchtime was the ever-popular Mafia challenge. This time, it was run by the talented Brynn O’Dea, whom you might know from ‘She Stoops To Conquer’. By the way, how good was it that we were able to run the production this year!

Wednesday students were treated to a screening of Senior Media work. Thanks, Mr Wilkins, for organising this.

Thursday saw the Year 12 Music students put on a performance to a supportive and enthusiastic audience. How we have missed live music performances. Well done to all the Music students who played and sang. Also, thank you to Mr Rogers and Ms Wong for organising this.

I am already looking forward to next year’s Arts Week. Maybe we will even get the full five days! In the meantime, I am reminded that the Arts are still alive and well at Box Hill High School, even in 2021.
