VCE Report

Theresa Iacopino

Term 3 has been very challenging for our VCE students. The extended lockdown has meant teachers and students have had to quickly adjust to learning from home as well as completing assessment tasks remotely. We are very proud of the resilience shown by VCE students.

Some of the adjustments we have had to make so far:

Practice exams

Due to restrictions preventing practice exams being conducted onsite in the second week of the holidays as per usual, students will be doing the exams at home. They will do them under normal exam conditions at home. Students came into school during the last week of term to pick up printed copies of the exams. English practice exams are normally marked by external assessors so year 12 English students have been asked to drop off their completed exam papers by Wednesday of the first week of the holidays so we can deliver them to the external assessors. This will ensure that our students receive high quality feedback regarding their English exam skills.

Revision Lectures

Each year we facilitate an opportunity for our students to attend revision lectures provided by Connect Education for each of their subjects. Normally, students would attend school during the first week of the holidays. However, due to the current restrictions these lectures will now be conducted online. Students also receive extensive revision notes.

Consideration of Educational Disadvantage (CED)

The CED process accounts for the disruption to student learning caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It applies to every student completing one or more VCE or scored VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequences in 2021, including Year 10 and 11 students. It restores a student's results to where they would have been without the disruptions that have occurred throughout the year and makes sure that final VCE results are valid and fair for all students. All students have been given the opportunity to provide a statement regarding the impact COVID has had on their learning this year.

GAT

The GAT has been rescheduled for the third time to Tuesday 5 October. The GAT will be conducted according to COVID safe guidelines. This will involve running the GAT in the gym, the hall and classrooms to achieve the required ratio of 1 person per 4m2.

COVID Vaccinations

All final year students are encouraged to make a COVID vaccination appointment, as this will help keep them and our community safe and support the safe conduct of the VCE examinations later this year.

The vaccination hotline number is 1800 434 144.  The hotline operates from 8am to 8pm.
