Principal's Report

Welcome

I am pleased to advise that Concord School has made several staffing appointments to provide additional student wellbeing support across the school. Each section within the school, with the exception of Secondary 11/12, now has one more teacher aide than classes within the section. For example, Secondary 9/10 has 10 support staff for the 9 classes. In addition, two school counsellors are now working to support students from across the school. The counsellors will engage in preventative work where possible talking to students both individually and in small groups.

Congratulations to Violet Assaf and Patricia Patania (ES) and Hillary Field and Andrew Wright (Counsellors) who have been appointed to these positions. We also wecome Essraa Yassine (Speech Pathologist) in Upper Primary.

School Website

The school website has recently been refreshed with new photos and some changes to content. We often receive positive feedback on our website as it is usually the first place that parents visit when they are considering enrolling their child at our school. There are not only new photos on the home page of the website but also within the various headings at the top of the screen.

Performance for School Band ‘Unbroken’

On Tuesday, 26th June, ‘Unbroken’ will be performing in the School of Rock at Melrose Melbourne, on Melrose Drive, Tullamarine. The School of Rock is a three-day event featuring bands, choirs and dance groups from 48 primary and secondary schools. It is a non-competitive opportunity for our band to perform to an audience of 500 with full staging, lighting and sound. Unbroken will be performing two songs on the day - Shattered and Reality.

The members of Unbroken are Tenesha, Amee, Hardial, Ross, Cal, Josh and Ruby.

Parking in Back Car Park

A number of parents have complained that other parents are sitting in their cars in the middle of the back car park while waiting for their children to come out of school. This makes it difficult for others cars to come out of car parks and is extremely unsafe for our students.

We do acknowledge that parking can be extremely difficult to find at our Bundoora Campus, particularly at the beginning and end of the school day. We have worked closely with the Banyule Council over the past two years however they have not been forthcoming with any funding to improve this situation.

A couple of alternatives to doing this are

  • park on Grimshaw St as it is not a clearway until 3.30pm
  • park in the car spaces at the end of Gleeson Dr that is on the other side of the Loyola Reserve

Your cooperation is appreciated so that we are able to maintain a safe environment for all members of our school community.

School Communication and the use of Compass

It is important that all parents log into Compass so our school can communicate effectively with you. If you have any questions regarding Compass, or are having difficulty in logging-on, then please ring Karen Jordan at our school on 94673972. The Compass log-on can be found at https://concordsch-vic.compass.education or through the ‘Compass Parent Portal’ link on our website.
