Garden Club

Garden Club Service: 2012 - 2017

The garden club thanks and farewells Year 12 students, Stephanie Giao and Rowena Zhang who have been loyal garden club members over many years. We will sincerely miss their enthusiasm and company - we wish them all the best for their future endeavours.

Stephanie reflects fondly on her time in the Garden Club. “As a member since Year 7, I’ll always remember the heat of summer, the winds of autumn, the rains of winter and the sunshine of spring. I’ll also remember the funny looks my teacher gave me when they saw my mud covered shoes, the mulch in my hair, and my wet uniform when my friends ‘accidently’ sprayed me with the hose. Being in the club has taught me a lot, not only about how to garden (obviously) but also about the agricultural industry and environmental issues, courtesy of our lovely teachers. Always imparting new knowledge, if it weren’t for Mr De-Gabriele and Ms Mortimer, I don’t think I would be as compelled as I do, to turn up twice a week. So, if you wish to join the club, I encourage you to drop by, to meet the thriving garden, nurturing teachers, and boost the dwindling number of students.”

New Members Welcome

In 2017, we have welcomed two new ‘green thumbs’ – Year 8 students, Vi Le and Joanne Ngo.

We have also appreciated the practical support and enthusiasm received from the Food Technology team, Andrea Coleridge and Max Smith who cleaned up and planted new seedlings behind Nindethana. Living Skills Co-ordinator, Emily Wilson organised a Bunnings crew, who provided plants and garden tools and assisted with a planting session with her students.
