Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 Learning Community

Prep Transition Days

Prep Transition sessions allowed the new children to spend a small amount of time in a Collingwood College classroom, with experienced and familiar staff.

The children got to know each other and became familiar with the school, staff and routines.

They spent time during these sessions familiarising themselves with the classroom and other play and learning spaces.

They began to build positive relationships with Collingwood College Staff and community.

Fire Fighters' visit

This week the fire fighters came and visited our Prep community.

They taught us what to do in case there is a fire and we practised 'Get down low and GO GO GO!'

We talked about how to stay safe if your house is on fire and learnt the number to ring to get the fire department.

We also went outside with the fire fighters -  they let us spray the fire hoses and look inside the fire truck. It was lots of fun!

Aboriginal For a Day

As part of our new partnership with Cultural Infusion, we were thrilled to be part of a unique learning experience called 'Aboriginal For a Day.'

The program offered students the opportunity to engage with Aboriginal Art, Culture, Storytelling and Dance. Three Indigenous artists ran the program teaching us about the history and language of Indigenous culture and specifically the Wurundjeri culture. Dance and a final show were also included, and it was a fantastic day of learning for the Grade 1-6 classes.
