Collingwood College performance at Carols by Candlelight

On Thursday 3rd of December, the combined Year 7-8 Orchestra (lead by Caitlin French) and Senior Strings Ensemble (lead by Vince Ward) performed at the City of Yarra's 'Carols by Candlelight' convert in Darling Reserve, Clifton Hill.

The performers looked and sounded amazing as they entertained the crowd of over five hundred people with orchestral arrangements of 'Carol of the Bells' and 'O Holy Night' and an acapella choral rendition of 'The Coventry Carol.' It was a fitting highlight to another year of hard work from all involved and a fine demonstration of Collingwood College's excellent music program.

Spring Fair Battle Of The Bands

The Collingwood College Spring Fair Battle Of The Bands (yes, all capitals) was once again a sun drenched extravaganza of different music styles, with groups competing as choirs, duos and bands. Eventual winners of Manny's music shop vouchers to the value of $500, were VCE originals band Gestetner (who have since performed at two Yarra 

Youth gigs), Chris’s choir, and Kala Charlie with an original song. Our guest judge and former student, Ziggy from Melbourne band Crimsonettes, was extremely impressed by the high standard of our performers and songwriters.

VCE Music End of Year Concert

Our VCE Music Performance evening was an outstanding event that not only showcased the breadth of musical talent across both Collingwood College and Fitzroy High, but also the newly refurbished music department. From atop the purpose built stage in the main music classroom, staff, parents and friends witnessed a superb array of performances from both soloists and groups. Our VCE students were visibly chuffed at the size of the very enthusiastic crowd, particularly when we converted it into a rock gig for the last two pieces.
