Living with Strength and Kindliness

An overview of the journey to the College Theme 2020:

Assume Responsibility

Seek Unity

Restore Reason

By channeling inspiration from Pope Francis, the ideas for our theme stemmed from his compassion for the poor, his consideration for the environment and his commitment to developing interpersonal connections. This led us to our 2020 theme of,

Assume Responsibility, Seek Unity, Restore Reason.

As a school, we believe that each of our individual responsibilities are intertwined with the duties of everyone around us here at St. Joseph’s College. In order to be a progressive school environment, we must do our part for the world’s current climate crisis. We are the youth of the world, and we are the ones who are pioneering our future. It is everyone’s small actions that lead to a major movement in our journey to make a real change.

As a school, we are committed to forming relationships in order to develop a stronger sense of unity in our lives. Unity is what allows us to feel like we are a part of something; something we want to be a part of, and something that we find comfort in. We must assume that it is our obligation to create the close-knit community we aspire to have, just as Jesus did with his followers. Jesus pushed the status quo. Despite lack of praise, he continued to do what he thought was right. His teachings have paved the way for Catholic communities all over the world, including the one that we are all a part of right now.

As a school, we stand for pushing boundaries, accepting change and thinking forwards. Our radical perspective on the progression of our school is based upon the Brigidine traditions of being one with the environment, as well as protecting the integrity of relationships within our close community. We stand for finding reason within ourselves and we aim to share these beliefs with each other in order to bring restoration.

We hope that this theme stays with you throughout the year, and that it leads you to bring justice to where it is most needed.
