Box Hill Rotary Whitehorse Art Show

In our last newsletter I mentioned that our  Year 11 & 12 Studio Arts class were entering some of their work in the Box Hill Rotary Art Show. The  exhibition is open to all practicing artists and Ray Mcleod-Dryden  (Vice President of Rotary Club of Box Hill) invited Ms McLellan's Year 11 Studio Art class to exhibit their work. This is the very first time that KSC has been represented.

I am delighted to advise that one of our students, Hao Yang Xing, was an award recipient. Well done Hao Yang!

Hao Yang Xing awarded Third Prize $200 in the Box Hill Rotary Art Show for his work Monsters on the Rampage. Hao Yang worked tirelessly on his highly detailed work that depicted two larger than life monsters terrorising the city. Hao Yang used intricate line drawing and watercolours to create this masterpiece and we all from the Arts Domain congratulate him on his wonderful work. This award marks the beginning of a journey to becoming an authentic practising artist!

Year 9 Fashion and Textiles

Students in Year 9 have been exploring the history of fashion, fast fashion and sustainability issues within the fashion industry. Students worked in groups to create outfits made from recycled materials and were challenged to find solutions in dealing with the different properties of the unique materials. Students came up with innovative solutions in using the materials and extended their collaborative problem solving skills working in a team. Their creative outfit designs are now on display in the front foyer with the narratives the students have written about their designs.
