University Visitors

Thanks to Ms Cutajar for organising university students from Melbourne University – Mel Mitsinikos, RMIT and The Australian Catholic University.

Each presented their personal stories along with good advice. Many young people change their minds, which is perfectly fine. The messages shared encouraged students to follow their passion, and not be deterred if they didn’t get the scores they anticipated as there are other ways to be accepted into courses.

Our delightful Year 12’s did a great job presenting thank you gifts – especially Addison!

VCAL VISITORS

Our Year 11 & 12 students were privileged to spend 3 periods with Glenn Manton this Tuesday.

Glenn has been engaging audiences for over 20 years with his unique blend of education and entertainment. A dynamic storyteller Glenn is able to draw upon his vast life experience to move audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Glenn was able to provide students with ways to connect, goals to consider and motivation to achieve in an inspirational atmosphere.

Glenn spoke about resilience, passion and humility with encouragement to think, appreciate and grow.  The session ended with students sharing pizzas together.

School Assessed Coursework – SAC’s

Just a reminder that SAC dates have been published and provided to students. All students must be present for SAC’s. Appointments need to be made at alternate times. If students are absent, then a medical MUST be provided on return to school. Thanks for your support.

Study Centre

The Study Centre is open till 6pm each night. Pre-Service teachers from Maths/Science & English/Humanities will be available to support our students. This is a great opportunity for students to have personal coaching. This will be available from Monday – Thursday starting soon.

Homework

Students are encouraged and reminded that working consistently, employing a range of strategies to study is in their best interests.

Motivational Speaker Darren Pereira & DJ Tim

Darren spent an hour and a half, motivating our Year 11 & 12’s with personal stories, some imitations and loud music (well it was for me!).

Students gained an understanding of the power of the mind:

B – Belief

E – Excellence

S – Study

T – Toughness

He spoke about respecting your teachers, a positive mindset, ‘I can’ do mentality and goal setting along with never give up.

Student comments:

‘amazing’,  ‘dream it, believe it’, ‘believe it, achieve it’

‘I learnt that I need to set goals out of reach but not out of mind’

‘don’t be distracted’

‘for all actions there are effects’

All students were challenged to take the ‘Selfie Challenge’.

We will concentrate on study skills and ‘What Does Success look like’ next term.

Thanks for your support,
