Year 12 Biology Excursion to GTAC

On Wednesday 21 August, all Year 12 Biology students attended an excursion to GTAC (Gene Technology Access Centre) in Parkville. The excursion covered several key knowledge points from Unit 4 regarding DNA Manipulation Techniques – specifically PCR and Gel Electrophoresis. More importantly, however, is that it gave students the opportunity to use laboratory-grade equipment and then discuss the results in a case-study. The students will have a chance to test their knowledge gained from the excursion in an upcoming assessment task. Thank you to Miss Beales for helping to organise the excursion and Mr Reid for helping with the supervision.
