NSW Senior State Age Swimming Championships

August 12th-14th

Congratulations to the 10 KWS Swimmers who represented Kinross at the Senior State Age titles. As a team, KWS swimmers achieved a combined 8 medals (3 gold, 3 silver & 2 Bronze) & a further 18 top 10 places. Placing 20th on the point-score.

The team set themselves 3 clear goals to help keep themselves process driven at an elite level of competition:

  1. Positive Mindset
  2. Inclusiveness-being there for each other
  3. Encouragement

By setting clear process goals the team were able to invest their time in the steps it takes to achieve their goals. The KWS swimmers were fantastic at managing themselves through 3 very full day of racing, maintaining a positive outlook under fatigue not matter the outcome. By focusing on the objective measures, post-race, that swimmers can control we are able to develop training goals that will help shape our summer season.

Special mention to Ollie McLaughlin, for competing at his final meet for KWS before he heads to America to begin his next chapter of his journey at Fairfield University, Connecticut. Ollie has been swimming with the KWS team for the past 10 years & we wish him the best of luck!

Finally the Kinross coaching staff would like to thank the all the parents and the school for supporting our swimmers no matter their goals.

Rugby Report

The last two weekends has seen our boys host St. Stanislaus and head to Sydney to play St. Patricks College. Results are attached.

It has been a very physical two weeks for the young men of KWS Rugby and I am pleased to say the boys have embraced this physical challenge. Some results went our way and others didn’t, but an underlying factor to our on field performance has been the willingness to throw their bodies around and embrace the contact elements of the game. This has been a focus for our boys and the constant improvement in this area of the game has been pleasing to see.

Our teams have been recently hit with illness and injury often meaning some boys have had to play two games on a Saturday. No complaints from these young men, just a willingness to represent their school with pride and help out their mates. As a staff member but also a parent, the efforts of so many of these young men has filled me with pride.

Our attention turns to the annual Boarder’s v Day Students games this weekend. As usual the Boarders consider themselves favourites for each game, but talk around the town is the day students have a steely resolve this year so it should make for an exciting day of Rugby. Bragging rights are on offer and the playgrounds are divided. It will make for an interesting day on Saturday! Game times are below so please get around the boys and show your support this Saturday.
