Mr Trent Chapman
After two years of ‘House Spec’ being recorded in House areas and viewed in classrooms, it was wonderful to have the entire Senior School converge in the DPA last Friday afternoon to enjoy an afternoon of live performances. It was fantastic to see our Year 11 seniors lead the younger students in a wide range of dance and drama performances. Whist competition was fierce, Gordon House were the victors on the day. Many thanks our judges, Mrs McCalman and Ms Dunkley for presiding, as well as our prefect MCs Gian Wynn and Annabel Pengilly for ensuring the smooth running of the event.
The Learning Support Department are seeking volunteers to act as one on one Readers and Writers for the HSC Examinations (Wednesday 12 October to Friday 4 November). Thank you to those who have already expressed interest.
Without volunteer assistance, our students with learning differences will not receive the support they require to complete their HSC exams, as school staff are not permitted to work in this capacity. For this reason, we need you, our school community, to offer up any time you can, even if it is only one session over the entire exam period. Parents of current Year 12 students CAN act as volunteers, but not for exams that their children are completing. For example, if your child is studying English Standard, you CAN act as a reader or writer for English Advanced.
Volunteers can help out as much or as little as they can and would be required for 3–4 hour blocks. All volunteers must have a current Working With Children Check, a COVID triple vaccination certificate and adhere to COVID safe guidelines. If you are willing to act as a volunteer during these times, please get in touch with Bernie Sharpe (bsharpe@kws.nsw.edu.au) to indicate your availability.
This Friday 19 August our Year 10 ‘Be Heard’ students are combining with TREE to provide a free sausage sizzle lunch to students and staff. As part of their paddock to plate unit, students have made the sausages from school produce at Windermere Farm. Lunch will be first come, first served from the quad area outside McLachlan House during lunch.
