Athletics

Our HICES athletics team head to Sydney next week for the first representative carnival for some time. We wish them luck and look forward to hearing all about the event.

Netball

Our U10 netball team has been going from strength to strength in the local town competition, most recently registering a win over the competition front runners. Over the next two weeks we have friendly fixtures against Orange Christian School. Best of luck to the girls as they near the end of a very successful season. Many thanks to Mrs Seedsman as coach and Kristin Zinga for their excellent guidance and coaching throughout the season.

UNDER 11’S WESTERN CONFERENCE CARNIVAL IN DUBBO

On Sunday 7 August, Ingrid West, Isabelle Provost, Cassie Philippe and Louis Blythe from Year 5 represented the Orange Junior Hockey Association, whilst Millie Sullivan and Harriett King represented Molong at the Under 11’s Western Conference Carnival in Dubbo. They played numerous matches on the day against teams from Bathurst, Dubbo, Mudgee and Parkes. The focus of the carnival was on developing as young hockey players, improving their skills and having lots of fun on the day.

Millthorpe Mulls – 06/08/22

A trip across the hills and out to Millthorpe provided a challenge for the Mariners this weekend. Wet conditions added to this challenge. However, excuses aside, this game was a great learning curve for the Mariners.

We started off under pressure but held our own. Quick responses from the opposition tested our defence but some powerful kicks and drives to the side allowed for the Mariners to hold fort. A slip in communication and an injury towards the end of the first half had the scoreboard looking empty on our end and healthy with a plus 2 for the opposition.

We came out on fire to begin the second. Well-deserved possession allowed for the Mariners to force error on the opposition, resulting in an own goal for our opponents and a plus one on the card for us. With no subs and our friends on the other side of the field having fresh legs, the final score did not reflect the great effort this team put in despite all setbacks during the match.

Whilst a disappointing defeat, created has been an opportunity to mull over the strategic game play the Mariners will take for the remainder of our campaign. We look forward to keeping you posted of our success and are proud of the culture of commitment, positivity and energy we are bringing to both training and competition.
