Science Roadshow

For three days this week, University of Melbourne brought their Science Roadshow to Wangaratta High School. This was a great opportunity for Year 7 to 9 students to meet some current students and lectures of the university to discuss what they do in their study, their journey to tertiary education, barriers that they faced in their journey and possible directions that they will be heading towards in the future. Our students also experienced hands on experiments: ranging from lamb organ dissections; scat (animal poo) identification; animal skull identification and investigating how germs spread. The Roadshow provided our students with some high level demonstrations like the Ruben’s tube with the dancing flame and a hydrogen balloon explosion.
It was also great to have one of our past students Eliza Shiels return as a presenter and share her experience as a country student studying in the city.
