Principal Report

Welcome to Term 3 and within the first two weeks, we have seen some exciting achievements from our students. Well done to everyone.

A reminder that it is a mandatory Victorian requirement that students (over 8 years of age) must wear masks on buses and other public transport. There are other locations that masks are mandatory such as hospitals and health facilities. Please see https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/face-masks for details. I shared our expectations that students and staff wear masks indoors in a bulletin earlier this week, and it pleasing to see a an increase in mask wearing on campus. We are not enforcing the expectation, in line with the state-wide guidance, but all students have heard a rationale from me about why they should wear a mask and we will continue to ensure that students have access to masks if they want them. RAT tests are still being distributed weekly, and students can request them as needed via Reception.

I cannot stress how important it is to notify us of a positive covid test and ensure that the seven day isolation is honoured. Household contacts can attend school but MUST wear a mask. At the same time as covid cases are rising there are increasing influenza infections and various other winter viruses spreading. I echo my message that UNWELL STUDENTS SHOULD STAY AT HOME AND NOT ATTEND SCHOOL.

We are experiencing higher than usual staff absence due to illness, but we have been fortunate to be well supported by DET’s Support Your School Initiative, that includes supporting the provision of casual relief teachers from outside our area when local availability is exhausted, and the reallocation of corporate DET staff who are registered teacher to join our teaching team on campus.

Six of Year 9 students headed to the Gnurad Gundidj Campus of the School for Student Leadership: Wirra, Claire, Sam, Clare, Oscar and Emlyn. These six students will be away for the remainder of Term 3 in residence there – 5 hours away near Camperdown in Western Victoria. I look foreward to sharing more of their adventures and learning over their time away. he curriculum focuses on personal development and team learning projects sourced from students' home regions.

Have a great weekend everyone.
