Specialists -  PE

And, WE ARE BACK!

Welcome back to another term of FANTASTIC Physical Activity at Miners Rest Primary School!  We are excited to bring another fun filled program to you all.

Term 3 will see year levels, across the school, focus on Basketball and the skills we need in order to play this action packed game.  We are encouraging children to bring a basketball to school to practise their dribbling, passing and shooting in the yard at recess and lunch times (but only if they would like to).  Students  should clearly label their ball just in case it goes missing or ends up in the school grounds at the end of the day.   Basketball uses so many of our fundamental movement skills and is an excellent way for students to perfect their running, jumping, throwing, catching, bouncing and dodging.

After we complete our unit on basketball we will move into a more ‘groovy’ type of physical activity encompassing gymnastics for grades 3-6 and movement to music for foundation - 2.  Balancing, movement patterns and creating dance sequences will take centre stage and we look forward to watching the dancers in our school community shine!

Finally, to bid farewell to our wintry term of work we will be celebrating our national game with AFL football activities and skill drills in week 10.

There is plenty happening in Phys. Ed so grab a ball, get dribbling and we will see you all in the GYM!
