In our garden.

Hello from Sara!

Foundation Students enjoyed sowing a second crop of broad beans in front of our apples on Old Violet Street.  We talked about what tough plants they are to be able to germinate in the middle of winter and how their big seeds hold lots of nutrients for the young shoot to start its life.

1 / 2 B Tigers worked with great focus to create a tidy edge to the fig, grape and nectarine bed bordering Nettle Street.  It also helps us to see where the path stops and the garden bed begins so we don’t step on baby plants.

The Dogs persisted and built a protective cover over our ruby mustard seed with tricky materials, those springy poly pipe hoops kept jumping out of place!

Mystery Flowers from 3 / 4 W got  busy harvesting our green veggies from the verge.  They picked silverbeet, kale, collard greens and mustard lettuce.  Some students were very keen to take kale home to make kale chips.  Yum!

Nutritious nectarines had fun building pea Tee Pees and planted some of our snow pea seedlings to get growing up their new framework.

We’ve also been busy harvesting Rhubarb.  Here’s a gorgeous recipe if you happen to have a few stalks available. It’s very quick and is a 1 bowl mix, so super easy.   350 degrees F is about 180 degrees C.
