3/4 Camp

Our Year 3/4 campers have had a FABULOUS time at Camp Manyung! Thank you to Mr Ferguson and 3/4 teaching team for preparing such a wonderful camp. The students are so fortunate to have had this extra camp opportunity thanks to the special camp grant that we were able to take advantage of! We hope that your children have come home full of stories!

Here are a few reflections from students.

Year 4 Camp Manyung

Camp Manyung is in Mount Eliza.

Before we arrived at camp we went to Willum Warrain at Hastings.

It's an Aborginal place which shows  their land . There was a hut and big swamp

We also had a snack so we wouldn't be hungry.

Camp Day 1

Finally we arrived  at camp. The camp instructor’s name was Sam.

Mr Ferguson told us our rooms and I was with Alice, Milla, Rebecca, Iris,

and Ivana. We were all excited to be together.  The teachers told us to go into our rooms, put our luggage away and make our bed. We all went for a walk down to the beach and played beach games.  Before dinner we had free time where we got to play with sports equipment, lay in our rooms and do a quiet activity or gather in the common room.  Dinner was chicken and vegetables which was okay.  We went for a night walk, played trivia and then went to bed.

Camp Day 2

For breakfast on Day 2 we had a choice of toast, scrambled eggs, hash brown and cereal. I had toast and cereal .  After that we did some activities.  We had groups, they were called Penguins, Sharks and Dolphins.

I was in Penguins with Milla.  Our instructor’s name was Kate. We did the Low Ropes. It was challenging because it was slippery and wet. After that we had cake and fruit for morning tea.  The next activity after morning tea was Bush Cooking. We cooked damper and marshmallows over the fire, it was yummy.  Following this we had burgers for lunch! Activity 3 was Tree Rolling. We had to put on a harness and helmet and worked through the obstacle course. At the end there was a zipline.  We then had cookies, cake and fruit for afternoon tea.  Our last activity was the Kitchen Garden and we made some yummy pizza. Next we had free time before a pasta dinner and after that we watched a movie and had popcorn.

Camp Day 3

We had toast for breakfast and after that we did Crate Climbing.

Morning tea was next and again we had cake and fruit.  Our last activity was Marine Discovery. We went to a room that had a display of all things that had been found on the beach like starfish, seahorse, sea glass and sea shells. Then we went to the beach and saw 2 jelly fish and we saw a little crab. Then we had chicken and salad rolls before going on the bus back to school.

Overall I liked the camp and enjoyed staying there, but I was so tired and looking forward to sleeping in my own bed!

Camp Manyung, what a nice place. The grass was green and the water was blue. It was wonderful and there were games and activities there too!

The first activity I did was the low ropes. It was very fun and we needed to wear helmets. There was rock climbing and we did crate climbing. I took lots of photos there too and every time we did an activity we had a break to eat. The food was so good! We did bush cooking and we made a food called damper. It was delicious! Next we did the kitchen garden and made pizza. We also did tree rolling, which I was really scared about, but then somehow I was floating in the sky and having fun! And then we slept. The next day we did the marine discovery and then we went home. It was amazing! 😜🤩😄◑︿◐
