62ND ANNUAL ST JOSEPH’S COLLEGE BALL

All Year 9 to 12 students are invited to attend the 62nd Annual St Joseph’s College Ball on the evening of Friday September 9, 2022.

The ball will be held at the St Joseph’s College Stadium. Entry doors will open from 7:15pm. The Ball commences at 7:30pm and concludes at 10:30pm. Doors will close by 8:00pm sharp, and no late entry will be granted to students. We ask that parents collect students from 10:30pm.

In the interest of safety and traffic management, entry to the Mercy Campus will only be from the Eleventh Street entry gate, with one-way traffic movement. The exit will be on Riverside Avenue.

The College Ball is a formal style dance; as such, certain standards of dress are expected. College expectations of behaviour and conduct are expected on the night. This is an alcohol- and drug-free event. Any students suspected of being under the influence will be removed, and parents will be contacted. Security personnel will be employed on the night to assist staff with supervision.

Students are advised to take particular note of the following:

  • FORMAL ATTIRE will be strictly enforced. Boys – smart pants, shirt with collar, tie and jacket (optional). Girls – modest evening wear.
  • Wearing casual/sports footwear is not acceptable.
  • Supper will be provided on the night as part of the ticket cost.
  • Bottled water will be sold, and iced water will also be available.

Tickets will go on sale in mid-August for $20.00 per student and $35.00 for family tickets (two or more siblings). Tickets will be available from reception at recess and lunch and before and after school until 3:45pm.

All students are encouraged to attend with a positive attitude and to expect the unexpected. A memorable, fun night of dancing is guaranteed!

VO GEOGRAPHY VIRTUAL REALITY

In VO Geography this semester, we are learning about the biomes of the world. We investigated a number of different biomes through virtual reality in class. The students were transported to a biome and had to explain what they could see and hear. We travelled to tropical rainforests, desserts, tundras, the savannah, and deciduous and boreal forests without leaving the classroom! The students then had to infer threats to each biomes and how these can be reduced. Virtual reality is very engaging!
