SACs

Students and parents are reminded that attendance and completion of SACs in a timely manner is very important for a smooth completion of all Unit 4 coursework by the end of term 3.

Students who are sick on the day of a SAC must obtain a medical certificate and bring it to Ms Pickard on the first day they return to school. The make up SAC will be rescheduled into the first available time slot.

Be aware make up SACs are now completed after school on a Tuesday under the supervision of Ms Powell, Ms Auty or Ms Pickard. This time has been created as a priority to support students to complete all SACs before the end of term.

GAT information

The GAT will be held on Wednesday 7th September at the Springvale Town Hall.  Students will be provided with detailed information closer to the date. Full school uniform is required.

Trial/Practice Exams

All students studying Units 3 and 4 will be completing Practice Exams during the week beginning Monday 26th September, the second week of the school holidays. Practice Exams will be held onsite at Killester. The exam timetable will be released shortly.

RMIT Early Offers - Applications now open!

Through RMIT's early Offer Program, a Year 12 student's life experience outside the classroom can count towards their dream Associate or Bachelor's Degree, allowing them to be accepted on a lower ATAR and taking some of the pressure off their final year of high school. It's part of RMIT's commitment to diversity, equitable learning, and students could receive a conditional offer in September.

Year 10 Monash University Campus Experience Day

On Monday July 18 the Year 10's visited Monash University and participated in a campus experience day. Activities included an Access Monash presentation where students learnt about the array of tertiary study options available to them once they leave Year 12. They also had a personal tour and participated in a Monash Challenge where they discovered facts about Monash University. Students found Newton's Apple Tree in the Kenneth Hunt Garden which acts as a symbol of Sir Isaac Newton's theories of motion and gravity. Past Killester students Stephanie, Francesca, Emerald, Justine, Charlene and Parneet who are all currently studying at Monash assisted with tours and provided vital information and tips to Killester Students. Thank you to both the Monash Killester alumni and Monash University for providing a rich opportunity.

ACU Guarantee for Year 12 Students

ACU Guarantee applications are now open and close on September 23. You can apply here

ACU Guarantee is open to all current Year 12 students who have completed Year 11 in Australia. The program can offer eligible Year 12 students an early place at ACU based on their Year 11 results. By assessing students’ Year 11 results, ACU will generate a predicted selection rank and successful applicants will receive an early conditional offer to study their preferred course* with us before they sit their VCE exams.

When a student is offered an ACU Guarantee place, the ATAR requirement for their course will be removed, taking a huge weight off their shoulders as they approach a busy exam period.

How to apply

Students will need to upload their Year 11 results, as well as optional personal statements (maximum of three) addressing the following categories:

  • Impact through empathy – this is where students can tell ACU how they give back to others, whether that is on a big or small scale.
  • Impact through adversity – this is where students can show ACU their resilience in overcoming difficult circumstances and situations.
  • Impact through family – this is where students have a chance to tell us how their experiences and backgrounds are shaping the world they want to be part of.

While these statements are optional (not compulsory), they may increase a student’s likelihood of being awarded an early offer to study at ACU. Applications are free of charge, and we strongly encourage your students to apply.

Guaranteed ATAR

A Guaranteed ATAR enables a student to plan and list their course preferences with confidence. If the Year 12 student receives an ATAR equal or above this number, meets the course prerequisites and any ‘essential requirements for admission’, Federation University will guarantee them a place in the course.

Please keep in mind that if the student receives an ATAR below the guarantee, they may still receive a place. The lowest ATAR/selection rank for our courses varies from year to year and is influenced by the number of applicants for the course at each location, and the number of places available. We will use the student’s adjusted ATAR (selection rank) when determining if they have reached the Guaranteed ATAR. Please click here to view our 2023 Guaranteed ATARs

Early Offer

Federation University’s Early Offer Program is designed to take the pressure off Year 12s during this period. Students receive a conditional offer for their place at university next year, and then are free to concentrate on achieving their best throughout the remainder of Year 12.

We hope you can share this with your Year 12s along with further information and application details here

Open Day

Don’t forget, our Open Day will be taking place Sunday 14 August 10am - 2pm across all campuses.
