Ambulance Victoria Visit

On Wednesday we had a visit from Jim and Chris from Ambulance Victoria. Jim is a Paramedic Community Support Coordinator for the Southern Grampians Shire and Chris is a paramedic who often works within the Hamilton and Cavendish areas. They drove out an ambulance and a response car to show us. We learnt lots about first aid, ambulances, what paramedics do, as well as how and when to call 000. The 3-6's also learnt about CPR including roughly how hard you need to do compressions and that doing your compressions to the beat of 'Stayin' Alive' by the Bee Gees will get you at the right speed. They left us with a snake bandage to keep here at school (just in case) that tells us exactly how tight to pull the bandage. It was very exciting when Jim left in the ambulance with the lights and sirens going. The students loved racing the ambulance on the inside of the school fence!
