Year 3/4

Smashing Similes

We have been learning about figurative language in Year 3/4. This week we have had a focus on similes. We learnt that similes use the words 'as' or 'like' to make a comparison. Here are some of the smashing similes we wrote this week. 

 

She was as beautiful as an angel filled with love and beauty. - Cooper

His eyes shined like light blue coral with diamonds, gold and gems. - Eli

Her heart was kind like an angels. - Ava

She ran fast like nothing could get in her way. - Emma

He ran like the wind. - Jaxson

His heart was kind just like my mum, being so nice. - Mietta

The car was as shiny as an emerald. - Sam

His eyes shined like a little green emerald with sparkly red dots. - Thomas

Ambulance Victoria Visit - Wednesday

 

Today the paramedics came to our school. We learnt CPR and I got to ride in the stretcher. We also learnt how to make a snake bite not hurt or the venom to not effect the human and my friend Sam had a broken arm. We got to see inside of a medical bag and we saw the green whistle from the movies. And we also we learnt that you need to tell them your home address when you call 000. And if you live on a farm tell them your farm’s name so they get the right house. The stretcher was scary because we went up really high but it was really fun because we got to ride around press the buttons up and down. Now people know how to stay safe and if they ever have an emergency they know how to call them and they know their number which is triple zero. By Jaxson Cross. 

 

On  Wednesday the paramedics came to school. They let us have a ride in the stretcher. It was great. It went so high. We also learnt that we have to do CPR on the patient for 2 minutes and I did it on a fake squeaky heart against my brother Hughie. We learnt what to do if someone got a snake bite. You have to get either a normal bandage or a snake bite bandage and wrap it around the bite very tight. If there is an emergency you have to call triple zero 000 and tell them your address and you farm name. There is this green whistle that you suck for pain medication and it smells really bad. They taught us about all the important thing that you need that are in the medical bag. It was so fun. By Mietta Price.

 

Today on Wednesday the the 3rd, I learnt about the CPR. Whenever someone had a snake bite we must call the 000. We must give them our home address, street name or our farm name. I saw an actual Ambulance with the actual ambulance people. Their names were Jim and Chris. I had so much fun with the ambulance. By Ava Huf 

 

I learnt CPR. You do compressions for 2 minutes. There is a special type of snake bandages. The green whistle can get rid of the pain when you get injured. When some one gets injured at home, you call 000 and tell them your home address, street name. I got a pretend broken arm. By Sam Packman.

 

I learn to how to do CPR on a person. I know my home address. The green whistle takes the pain when you break your leg. You call triple zero for an ambulance. I got a ride on a stretcher. It was so much fun. By Thomas Hurley.

 

Today we leaned about paramedics. We talked about CPR. In the ambulance there is a green whistle that gets the patient painkillers to get rid of the pain.vSnakes bites don’t usually kill people. We rode on a stretcher and we got buckled in the stretcher and the stretcher went up and down. It was very fun. By Gwyn Nettleton.

 

On Wednesday the paramedic came and visited our school. I have learnt about snake bites, CPR, calling 000, home address, street name and the green whistle. My class and the other classes got to have a look in the Ambulance. It was very tightly and squishy. By Indi Keymer-Newley.

 

On Wednesday I learnt our home address is important. Our farm name sign is good for them to know where they are going. If you’re injured you call 000. Snake bandages help you get better. Ambulances helps you get to the hospital. By Cooper Leese.
