Harmony Day Celebration
On Wednesday March 20, St Norbert College staff and students joined together in a celebration of the huge diversity of nationalities that make up our College. Special thanks to Fr Peter who conducted the Liturgy, which was followed by the international food fair. Moses from African Music Circles provided us the opportunity to learn a very important African cultural art of drumming and we also had the Indigenous face-painting workshop run by Ms Martin. We were also entertained with multilingual music organised by Mr Beins during our food fair. The whole school shared lunch gave us an opportunity to sample foods from 26 different countries having 63 different menu items. On behalf of our Harmony Day Committee, I would like to thank families and staff who generously donated food and also volunteered to help us on the day to make this celebration a great success.
Student Comments
"Harmony Day was a wonderful day which I look forward to each year. The food stalls are a great way of expressing different cultures. The liturgy was done in a respectful and harmonious way. I think Harmony Day shows that different cultures can show people a new way of doing things such as cooking with different ingredients that you may not have heard of. " Max Patriarca - T7
"I enjoyed being able to see all of the different cultural clothing being worn by members of the school community and all of the different cultural foods that were able to be purchased on the day."

"On Wednesday March 20, it was Harmony Day. We had an assembly, then it was lunch. At lunch there was lots of food stations, face painting and hip-hop dancing. Each food station was a different culture. Face painting was free and anyone could paint faces. Overall it was a fun day!" Emma Kilgour – K6
"Harmony Day was awesome because there were lots of activities that everyone could get involved in. For example, drumming and face painting. My favourite part was all the multicultural food for sale. It was good that we got to wear our sports uniforms and sport shoes and it was nice to see all the teachers involved." Tyler Gayski - K6
"I enjoyed Harmony Day because it was a big and fun social event that showed us the diversity of the whole school. The food was delicious and the events were a joy to participate in." Sophia Pelicia - T7
"Harmony Day this year was a colourful event where staff and students were immersed in the multicultural community of St Norbert College. The Liturgy preceding the international food fair was representative of the many cultures we have at the school, also shown by students wearing their traditional clothing for the day, and included a deeply moving tribute to the victims of the Christchurch terror attack. The food was definitely one of the best parts of the day, with many enjoying the delights cooked by Ms Miranda at the Indian stall." Yajnah Juggessur - K1
