Sayonara Fujimi Exchange. We hope you had a lovely time!

Our 20th Fujimi Exchange winds up on Saturday 11 August with a big thank-you party to all our wonderful host families. The Farewell Performance and Ceremony will commence at 10:30am in the Gonzaga Barry Lecture Theatre and we look forward to seeing you all there. Please arrive a little earlier so that our exchange students can get prepared for their dance.

The 2018 Exchange has been a great success! The images attached tell the story of happy, healthy and engaged students from Japan. They have attended classes from Year 2 through to Year 11 across a myriad of activities from rock-climbing, to making boomerangs and rapping. Thank you for the warm welcome and support received from so many people in our community. Fortunately, the weather has been kind to us too.

I offer my deepest appreciation to our many host families. Thank you for each moment of your generous care and attention to ensuring that each of our exchange students are well, feel safe and happy. Experiences like this are so very important to widening horizons and understanding others. We hope that it will lead to life-long friendships.

Mary Ward Secondary-MasterChef

A visit to the Mary Ward MasterChef  event has been a  highlight of this year’s John XXIII Day.   We have had over one hundred entries. Once again students, staff and parents  have been amazed at the  extraordinary creative and culinary talents of our students from Years 1 to 12.

This is our eighth  year and many  students like James Green currently in Year 8,  have entered every year since Year 1.   James’ entry, the Noodle Bowl cake, was voted the winner of  the People’s Choice Award.   Well done to James and all our enthusiastic cake  decorators and chefs of the future.

Our thanks to the Mary Ward staff in particular Nicky Britton, Joyce Assibey-Bonsu, Janine Vivian and Dani De Witt for managing, marketing and displaying the entries and to our judges Suesanne Sawyer and Natalie Okoko.
