Senior School News
We are into the full swing of things now in Senior School with many VCE students having a busy time with SACs over the past few weeks. Most of the students have coped well with that so far, using their time to prepare well. As the term 1 holidays approach we would like to remind students that term 2 in Senior School will be very busy as we build towards exams. It is important that students get the break they need to refresh, but also return to school up to date with their work.
Also another reminder that if a VCE student is absent on the day of a SAC they are required to bring in a valid medical certificate in order to be graded on the SAC. If a student does not submit a valid medical certificate, then the student will be able to sit the makeup SAC the following Tuesday but only an S or N will be recorded and no graded assessment. Students who sit a SAC but do not satisfy the criteria for the SAC are therefore given an N (non-satisfactory) but they will be given the opportunity to re-sit the SAC in the hope that they can show understanding of the outcome being tested in order to be given an S, (satisfactory). Please note, that the graded assessment will not change just the N will change to an S. If the student has satisfied the outcome addressed by the SAC through other work they may not be required to re-sit the SAC to achieve the S.

Year 12 News
This is a timely reminder to all students that their focus should be completing all work to the best of their ability and therefore whilst at school the VCE study centre is to be used appropriately during all private study periods, recess and lunchtime. Private study is a quiet time for completing work including revision and study of class work. Students can access and use the kitchen facilities at this time, but they do need to move onto their study quite quickly. During recess and lunch this space needs to be used appropriately and all mess needs to be cleaned and organised by the end of these times.
Secondly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and students who have followed the correct procedure when students are absent. A phone call to the absence line on the day of the absence, followed by a signed written note, or when a SAC or redemption task is missed, a medical certificate is to be presented upon the students return to school.

Year 10 News
Year 10 Peer Support Leaders have been facilitating the Year 7 team sessions each Friday for “Fun Friday”. They have been doing a marvellous job of making the transition period for the Year 7s a most welcoming and positive experience.
Congratulations to all Year 10 students who participated in the swimming sports. It was great to see so many students representing the college in a variety of events.
Work Experience Week will be on the 16th – 20th of September. This is a great opportunity for students to work in a field of their interest for the week. Students need to ensure they see me or Ms McCaskie if they have any issues or questions. Work Experience is held in Week 10 of term 3.
Students will have the opportunity to attend the Year 10 camp that provides great facilities and activities located on the Great Ocean Road. Camp dates are from the 16th – 18th of September.
Progress Reports are available through XUNO. It’s important that parents, guardians and students sit down and look through the report together. It’s an ideal time to set goals, develop study routines at home and touch base with teachers if there are concerns. We are looking forward to seeing you at parent/teacher interviews.
