BYOD Reminder!

Hello Parents, Students and Friends of McClelland College,

We have now implemented a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) program for the students in year 7, 9, 10 and 11 whereby students will be able to bring their personal device like a laptop/netbook or tablet to school, for classroom use and log on to the college network which will enable them to use internet, word processing and the Compass platform.

Students will be expected to use their device in a responsible manner. The college will provide a filtered Internet service, supervision/direction in all ICT activities and reinforce the safe and respectful use of the Internet in all curriculum areas. The community should be aware that the nature of the Internet means that full protection from inappropriate content cannot be guaranteed, however clear expectations around usage will be monitored by staff and enforced via the college discipline process.

Access to social media during school hours is prohibited unless it is for a specific educational purpose, as stated in the ICT, BYOD and College Mobile Phone policy. Students will be instructed to follow the normal logon procedure outlined on the BYOD page in what we are calling “The Knowledge Base” and sign an appropriate usage agreement. Our BYOD website can be located at http://byod.mcclellandcollege.vic.edu.au

The college appreciates that not all students will have a personal device and in this situation students will have access to the college’s devices. Students who currently do not own a device and intend purchasing a device can review options and recommendations regarding device acquisition below some of the vendors below may also provide an instalment payment options:

·         Learning with Technologies – http://mccbyod.orderportal.com.au

·         Edunet - https://mcc.technologyportal.com.au/

o   Password - MCC2018!

·         JB Hi-Fi Education http://www.jbeducation.com.au/byod

o   School code is: McClellandC2017

The college will provide limited ICT support for students to manage their personal devices as the overarching goal is to get as many students online as possible. We may not be able to support some android tablets due to limitations on our wireless network configuration.
