“THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS A LIFE WITH PURPOSE” Robert Byrne

This week students attended our first C.A.T meetings for 2019. We were overwhelmed by the response and enthusiasm of the students. Amanda Harrison has excepted the position of President and has had extensive involvement with the team since she was in year 7. We are excited to have her leading the team and know that she shall be well supported by her peers.

This year we have the largest group of young volunteers so far. Each person has answered the call to “Rise to the challenge” and they bring fresh ideas, hidden strengths as well as unique skills. There was a buzz of excitement at our meeting and listening to the discussions already occurring I can tell 2019 is going to be an amazing year.

We will continue to conduct the activities as done in previous years but the team of 2019 are looking towards including a more social justice perspective to compliment their charity work; exciting times ahead.

The group will meet again next Tuesday before they address the student briefing Wednesday morning to launch their activities for the term and introduce the new leaders.

Please feel free to like our facebook page and we will include details of activities and news both through social media and our school newsletter.

Harmony Day preparations have also started at MCC. This day celebrates and acknowledges the contributions of all cultures who now call Australia home. It promotes inclusiveness, respect and the sense of belonging for all Australians.

Students and staff showcase their cultural heritage through a kaleidoscope of art, food, music, dance, games or dramatic performances.

Thank you for your kind donations to the clothing pool. Every day we are accessing the goods and I know each and every recipient is extremely grateful. We have been able to provide assistance to families and support the needs of many students. With the cooler mornings this week it saw many students wearing jumpers; please remind your child to label their items,  so if it is misplaced it can be returned as soon as possible.

I hope that our new families are settling in to life at Marian and are starting to feel part of our community. Change always brings feelings of anxiety; we have all been there but it won’t be long until everything and everyone becomes familiar. Please don’t hesitate to call if I can be of assistance to your child or family in any capacity.

Have a wonderful week; stay safe and stay happy.
