Spring Soiree

The annual Spring Soiree – a celebration of the College’s large ensembles – will be held on the evening of Friday 13 September from 7:00pm in the St Louis Sports Centre. Featuring the Concert Band, Wind Band, Chamber Orchestra, Senior Guitar Ensemble, Treble Choir and Chamber Choir, this is one of the College’s premier music events! At the Soiree, Year 12 Musicians of the College are honoured on stage to recognise their many commitments and contributions to Music at John XXIII College.

 

Students performing are required to attend a rehearsal at 5:30pm but, are welcome to remain on College grounds after school for a free pizza dinner. Year 12 Recital Night

The College’s annual run of concerts dedicated to each Year Level commences on Wednesday 18 September with the Year 12 Recital Night. This event is always a special celebration of the College’s senior musicians, many of whom are delivering their final performance at John XXIII College. Parents, family, friends and staff are all invited to attend this free event, which runs from 7:00 – 8:00pm with a complimentary shared supper afterwards.

 

Applications to perform in the concert are available through music tutors and the Music Office. All applications are due by Friday 13 September. Please contact the Music Department with any questions.

Catholic Performing Arts

Congratulations to students in Wanju Voices and Primary Singers for being awarded certificates of Merit for their recent performances in the Catholic Performing Arts Festival! Special thanks to Mrs Haydon and Mr Johnston for leading the ensembles and preparing the students for such a fantastic result.

 

Congratulations, also, to Daniel Corvaia, McKenzie Richardson and Michael Woo, all of whom were awarded Outstanding Awards for their individual performances! Bravo!

Change of Dates

Please note the following changes to the Performing Arts Calendar:

  • The Small Ensemble Soiree will not be held this year, due to ensemble commitments to Pilgrimage and Year 12 Exams. These ensembles will perform, instead, in the Year Level Recitals commencing in Term 3 Week 9.
  • The Year 11 Recital Night has been changed to Sunday 27 October, from 5:00pm in the GBLT.

Performance Uniform Sizing

Trousers for Performance Uniforms are now ready to be sized, for any students who have not yet done so. Please visit Ms Gratton in the Music Office to do so.
