Around The Primary

Dear Parents

This morning we had a wonderful turn out for our Year One Assembly.  Many thanks to all the parents and grandparents who came along.

Special thanks to Ms Crowley, Mrs Thomas and Ms McKeague for preparing the children so well.

To see the big smiles on the children’s faces is of course what we all enjoy and celebrate at opportunities such as this.  It was a wonderful experience for the young students and we are so proud of each one of them.

Our Primary Open Night is on Monday 23 September from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.  All classrooms will be available for parents to visit and to celebrate with your children their learning journey.  Feel free to browse every room not just your own child’s classroom because there are wonderful things to see in every space of the school.  Please extend the welcome to your wider family, it would be great to see grandparents too.

It was a pleasure catching up with many Dads and special father figures last week.

Mrs Edwards (2B) has kindly put together this slideshow that depicts the love, kindness, humour, goodness and wisdom that you share with your delightful children.

We look forward to seeing many parents at the Interhouse Year 3-6 Athletics Carnival next Thursday.  Please remember to wear your badge!

Kind regards,

Antoinette De Pinto

Good Sports!

Pre-Primary hosted a special Father’s Day Mini-Sports Morning in the Gym.  The children enjoyed showing their Dads around our classrooms and their beautiful work before they headed off to the gym for fun and fitness.

The Dads had a great time joining in on all of the games and activities.  It was lovely to see them meeting other Dads and making new friends too. A big thank you to all the Dads, Grandads and special friends who joined us for the morning.

Confirmation

The Confirmation retreat was run by an organisation called 24/7. Their purpose was to teach us more about one of the seven sacraments, Confirmation. They taught us the importance of Confirmation through fun and games. We had an awesome and exciting day and learnt so much more about this special sacrament. I loved the experience and would definitely enjoy doing it again!

Thomas Townsend (6G)

Our amazing retreat was all about Confirmation. We did multiple activities that related to Confirmation and played games. One game we played was where we went into small groups and did a relay to dress one of our group members up like they were a mannequin.  We each took turns to put a piece of clothing on them, then take the items off again. This taught us that we receive many gifts in our lives but sometimes we throw them aside until we want them again. We learnt about how we must appreciate the gifts given to us at Confirmation.

Sports News

There is much anticipation around the Primary and during Sports lessons for the upcoming Y3-Y6 Interhouse Athletics Carnival on Thursday 12 September.

Tuesday 10 September will be the final day of Athletics training after school (3:30pm-4:30pm) to fine tune your skills before the big day!

Students are to wear their House shirts and bring a water bottle and lunch (please note there are no lunch orders available on this day).

It will be wonderful to have many parents supporting and cheering the students.

For your information, please see the attached Schedule of Events.

Congratulations to our Year 6 Netball team, who after an awesome season and lots of really hard work, won the Premiership for their Division.  Well done girls!

Can you help?

The Secondary Religious Education Department are collecting the inner tubes from glad wrap, foil and the like (no toilet rolls please).  The Year 8’s are going to make Aboriginal rain sticks as part of their curriculum.

Please hand these in to Mrs Petsos at Main Administration.
