Welcome back everyone to an action-packed Term 3. I hope you all spent time with family on day trips, playing, communicating and just enjoying each other’s company. Over the holiday I read a wonderful article about letting children fail and how it makes them a better person. Here is a link to that article.

Over the holiday, work was completed to make our school more accessible, and our new wheelchair ramps were repaired. The kitchen and canteen received a well-deserved upgrade and stone benches were installed. Thank you to the Ghouseini (stone benchtops and installation) and Nista (carpentry) families for supplying discounted materials and installation services for free. The kitchen looks absolutely beautiful.

Our fundraising project for the quadrangle, breezeways and undercover area is a little behind in terms of funds collected thus far. We ask that all families contribute $100 towards this student-centred project. By resurfacing and adding numerous games over this 1000msq area, we will create great learning and play spaces for all students to use. I ask all families to help where they can. To assist with the promotion of raising funds, students and parents have created a video. Please refer to your news feed in Compass to view the video.

Our Parent Opinion Survey for 2019 is now open. As we try to be as open and transparent as possible, we would like to invite all parents from our community to complete the survey. This is an opportunity to have your say about Kingswood. We would only ask that you do not ‘sit on the fence’ but have strong opinions either way when completing the survey. We are a school that prides itself on offering so much but your feedback would be greatly appreciated. All families have been emailed a link to the survey.

I would like to let you all know that Linda Hawkless has been shortlisted the Victorian Education Excellence Awards under the category of Outstanding Primary Teacher. We would all agree Linda is more than deserving of this recognition. Regardless of the outcome, she is a winner in our eyes and we thank her for her dedication to Kingswood and our students. Linda will not want everyone knowing about her success so please make sure you let her know how valued she is in our community. Congratulations Linda!

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the greatest holiday and beginning of Term 3 for a number of staff who sadly lost loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers go out to each one of them.

Welcome back Julia Clemente, Katie Bennett and Bree Morgan from family leave. You are all great additions to the Kingswood family moving forward.
