Deputy Principal's update

Dan Belluz

It has been a fantastic start to Term 2 with our parents registering for Single Sign-on and Shelly, our Schoolbox Learning Management System. Shelly already plays a pivotal role for student learning with access to resources, assessments and learning activities. Our students have logged in to Shelly more than 34,000 times since the year began and this number continues to grow. Parents will now be able to access Shelly to receive school communication and notifications, to view timetables and due work, and to access Synergetic.

One of the greatest challenges for students can be organisation and this is where Shelly’s due work section can provide much-needed information and structure. As due work items are added by teachers, they will appear in real time for students and parents to see so that the necessary planning for busy times can be done. This will be of great importance as we develop our whole-school homework policy during Term 2.

Mobile phones continue to be an important communication and educational tool for us all and we are very excited to be releasing our new mobile app during Term 2. This will give parents and students access to many of the features as the desktop version of Shelly, but with push notifications and a simple interface.

We will update parents as new features are being released. If you are having trouble logging in, please contact portalhelp@shelford.vic.edu.au.

Assistance will also be provided by staff in the Information Resource Centre before and after school.
