日本語 NIHONGO NEWS
JAPANESE DAY 2020 is coming in term 4!
Yes, you read that right! Our annual Nihon Matsuri – Japan Festival Day – is coming this term. The organisation of the day will be a little different compared to past years, however it will still be a great day full of lots of fun Japanese activities and experiences! Time to start thinking about your Japanese or Asian inspired outfit…
CAN YOU HELP?
SUCCULENTS / PLANTS WANTED
Our new Japanese garden is taking shape, with the large rocks recently put in position to help form the main framework of the garden.
Grades 3 – 6 will continue learning about the essential elements of Japanese gardens this term and will be designing their own plan for our school Nihon Teien – Japanese Garden using this knowledge.
A culmination of this work will see students creating “kokedama” plant balls to hang around the school. We are hoping that there may be some people with excess or available succulents or other suitable plants / cuttings that they would be willing to donate for us to use in these.
Please contact Narelle narelle.sullivan@education.vic.gov.au if you may be able to help
JAPANESE COSTUME REPAIRS
Some of our Japanese Dress-Ups are in need of some minor sewing repairs (mainly stitching that has come undone). If you are a keen sewer of any ability and able to help, please contact Narelle narelle.sullivan@education.vic.gov.au
KENDAMA WOODEN GAME REPAIRS
Kendama (Japanese version of cup & ball game) relies on a string attached to the cup and ball to work. Unfortunately over time some of our kendama have become a bit tangled and the strings have broken. I’m wondering if there is someone with patience who is keen to have a go at repairing our out of action kendama toys. If that sounds like you, please contact Narelle narelle.sullivan@education.vic.gov.au
