Weeden Heights Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Program

Well done to students from 2/3 and 3/4 who have worked so hard in their own kitchens and gardens throughout this term.  We have seen wonderful observations and skills in the garden including noting the clues that tell us the season is changing.  Have you noticed any of the clues?  Maybe you've seen new leaves growing or blossom appearing.  Some students have begun to see fruit forming or harvested vegetables from their garden.

In the kitchen, students  learned important safety and methods related to using knives.  One feature of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program is the sharing of food.  While we have not been able to physically share food this term, students have shared recipes that are special to them and their families.  We enjoyed hearing about Micah's French Yogurt Cake, Cassidy's Lemon Cupcakes, Lynn's Spring Onion Pancakes and Harry's Dad's Sourdough Bread just to name a few.

Have a lovely break over the holidays, maybe you'll have a chance to spend some time in the garden or cook up a storm in the kitchen!
