community

We are super excited about concluding the IsOlympics with this WALKATHON come SCAVENGER HUNT and FUNDRAISER for our wonderful school.

Sadly, the cancellation of many of our events, both big and small - such as our much loved Winter Magic Market and the Plant & Produce Markets has resulted in the loss of experiences that not only strengthen our community but also contribute vital funds to support our children’s’ education and wellbeing.

Therefore, inspired by Jack and Tom a very BNWPS FUNdraiser has been organised!

Make a pledge to walk/run/scoot/ride/skip your chosen route across the weekend of Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September all in adherence with the current DHHS Coronavirus (COVID19) Stage 4 restrictions (details at http://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au ).

Final instructions and route maps – we all have 1 power hour per day to fulfil our pledges!

Marvelous volunteers will be decorating each of the routes tonight and over the weekend with hope that the weather stays kind! Regardless of what the weather may bring, hopefully families are able to choose a route (or create your own local one), grab a cubby stick, share the GoFundMe page with your friends and family and hit the local streets! Upload your selfies from today and across the weekend to the Kudoboard

2020 has thrown us all around but it has also shown us that we are a resilient and inspiring community! If anything, this is worth celebrating this weekend with a silly walk, a stick wave, and a reminder of how special our BNWPS family is.

Updated Sentral App

BNW Community,

This will come as no surprise to some of you, but for others who don’t have auto app updates (smart phones) we wanted to alert you to an updated Sentral app released a couple of months back. We’ve been holding off formally communicating about this, for reasons we will outline shortly.

We would like to ask all parents and caregivers to ensure their Sentral app is updated to the latest version. This is a major release from Sentral which has been based on feedback they have received from the many schools that use their application. The Communications Working Party (and many of you too) have been using this app for a couple of months now. But at BNW we’ve been reluctant to formally ask you to upgrade until now.

The BNW Office, School Leadership Team and Communications Working Party have been working very closely with a dedicated team from Sentral to provide further refinements and updates before formal endorsement of the latest version. Of course, there is always more that could be done to make this a ‘better’ app, but we are pleased that what has been released is much improved in functionality and experience terms.

Speaking directly to your feedback from Communications Survey earlier this year we can say:

  • The new Sentral app is much more stable
  • The new Sentral app is much less likely to auto log out
  • The new Sentral app has a modern and professional interface
  • Notifications appear to be working as you would expect
  • The parent portal is seamlessly integrated with the app

You will have noticed over Term 3, that BNW has relied very little on the Sentral app as a communication tool. This will change from the start of term 4. We want to alert you to the fact that regular BNW communication, formerly received via email and other channels will be distributed via Sentral beginning Week 1 Term 4.

In short, you MUST get on Sentral and we highly recommend you upgrade to the latest version. The attached flyer from Sentral below has some summary information which may interest you, but importantly has a tab at the bottom left to help you “Get Started.”

In addition the BNW Office team (lead by Mayii) are here to help you. Please reach out to them over the phone or email if you are experiencing any problems, they will be only too pleased to help you. Mayii can be contacted on sentral@brunswicknwps.vic.edu.au or 9386 4624.

Regards,

Sam Cohen, on behalf of the Communications Working Party (who have been working very closely with Mayii, BNW Leadership Team and the rest of the BNW Office Team)
