school council

Hi BNWPS Community,

As we deal with the challenges that 2020 continues to throw our way we remain optimistic and focussed on a range of exciting planning and projects that will make the school more awesome for our students following their return.

The school development project continues to progress well with the recent completion of the architectural documentation and tender process.  In conjunction with the VSBA, the school is at the closing stages of appointing the builder for commencement of construction next month. Much thought has gone into minimising disruption for students and staff and interim measures are being introduced including the temporary productive garden.

One component of our work that has continued during this term is our grant submissions.  These have included applications for the refurbishment of the oval, a new solar panel system for the main building and shade sails for the Sensory Garden and Junior Playground. Fingers crossed that these projects will receive funding and our thanks to everyone who contributed to these substantial submissions.  We will let you know the outcome of each grant in coming months...

Having cancelled all working bees so far this year, we remain hopeful that our fourth and final one will proceed on Sunday, the 15th of November.  We have a register set up for jobs to be done so please let me know if you spot anything that can be added to this list.  Further information will be posted in the lead up and it would be great to see you there!

Finally, we are looking to recruit new members of both Buildings and Grounds and the gardening team.  If you are thinking of joining either (or both) groups please get in touch - there is plenty to do as the school transitions back towards face-to-face operation and in the lead up to next year.

Take care everyone.

Paul (Buildings and Grounds Committee)
