Year 1/2 Spotlight

Making Connections

Connection to our learning communities has always been of great importance to our 1/2 classrooms. Remote Learning 2.0 has proven that for our classrooms ‘social distancing’ is more about physical distance than relational distance.

This term we have enjoyed the additional online meetings added to our classroom timetables, not just for the educational value they hold, but also for the social opportunities they provide for students and teachers alike!

Information Reports

Our 1/2 students have been busy researching, planning, drafting, editing AND publishing fantastic Information Reports.

The 1/2 teachers were in awe of the amount of time and effort students took to research their chosen topic and the creativity that they put into publishing their pieces of writing.

Inquiry

Students have been busy exploring the concept of Place. We investigated the meanings and significance of places to ourselves, our families, alongside local cultures and wider communities.

Students and families immersed themselves in the Spiritual Trail in Darebin Parklands. This trail is a gift from the Wurundjeri people who have cared for this land for millennia, and invite others to find joy and peace whilst in nature. The trail’s purpose is to promote personal health by focusing on emotional and spiritual wellbeing and a sense of being connected to the land where we reside, to others and most importantly ourselves.

The 1/2 teachers would like to say a big thank you to all of our FPS families for their continued hard work and support with remote learning.
