What are your Dreams for the Future?
GEKA Brady Road Educational Team
Even as adults, we never stop dreaming or looking towards tomorrow. Speaking positively about the future can help children handle the unexpected and look forward to the challenge of the unknown.
Children often have dream about what they will be or could be, one day when they are adults. During these extraordinary times we are experiencing, it was really uplifting to listen to the children’s voices, regarding their aspirations for the future. These ideas came from a conversation with some of the children during lunch one day. It put a smile on all of our faces and wanted to share so it could do the same for you!
When I grow up, I’m going to...
Sophia: "Work in a petrol station and help people put petrol in their car".
Elliot: "Be a policeman. I like to do good things. I have heaps of toy police cars you know? I bought them at the $2 shop".
Cara: "Be a policeman… haha, I mean a police girl, yeah a police girl!"
Sammy: "Be a chicken and nuggets girl at McDonald’s, no, maybe Hungry Jack’s".
Tilly: "Be a babysitter, ‘cos I like babies".
Mikaela: "Be a Net-baller AND a Ballerina. My Mum plays netball."
Mimi: "Be a Doctor, so I can get people better".
Jack B: "Be a Doctor in a hospital. My Mum is a Nurse, you know?"
Harry: "Be an Artist. I like painting and drawing. I’ll paint on really big bits of paper."
Jack W: "Be a plumber and work with my Dad. I love the pipes in the sandpit. My Dad gave them to the kinder".
Georgie: "Be a teacher like Lynne. I want to teach little kids".
Amelia: "Be a carpenter, like my Dad".
Luca N: "Be a scientist, but I don’t know what they do!"
Zoe: "Be a police girl, a builder and I just want to be lots of things."
Elena: "Be the boss of Coles Supermarket".
Molly: "Be a builder and build schools and lots of stuff. I’ll build everything".
Well, who these children choose to be in this lifetime is entirely up to them and we love the wide range of aspirations they have!
How many of you followed through and became what you dreamed of being? Have you ever wondered why you did or why you didn't?
