CEO Report

CEO: Samantha Kolasa

The impact of COVID-19 has affected us all in different ways. For some of our families and staff, it has been extremely challenging as they grapple with the consequences of unemployment, sadness and tragedy. For others, the impact has been less so, but has still created its own issues and complexities. In this term 3 newsletter, we wanted to shine a light on the positives – the things that still make us smile. I will admit that this was not an easy task. We have all heard the affirmations, about looking for the silver lining. The truth is……..we are all exhausted. A fellow professional whom I admire calls it COVID fatigue. The weekdays blend into the weekends, and there is not a lot of certainty at present. However, it was a conversation with my daughter that reminded me that there is still much to look forward to – and more importantly, much to hope for. We sat down together over the weekend and wrote this poem for you to share with your children. Inspired by Dr Suess’ ‘Oh the Places You will Go’, it was a timely reminder of the smaller things that our children see as special. We hope it brings you some joy and that you remain healthy and safe during this very difficult time.

The frost on the lawn, gives way to the sun
The children outside, they tumble and run
Time with our loved ones, is precious and rare
Teaching our daughters, to lead and to share
Our boys ride their bikes, as fast as they can
We try to keep up, and do all that we can
Cooking at home, is a new favourite thing
Bath time is longer, there is now time to sing
Pets have been smothered, with attention and love
We’ve learnt we are strong, and must rise above
Nannas and pa’s, have missed out on so much
We long for the day, of their kisses and touch
Hope is the key, to getting us through
Please just remember, to look after you.
