Principal's Report

Dear Families,

This week I have had the pleasure of attending the Year 6 Camp. The Grade 6 students certainly did Twin Rivers proud by always demonstrating our school values and having a go at a range of activities. They always showed respect when visiting attractions and got a lot out of the experience.

On the camp we visited attractions or venues such as the MCG and the Shrine whilst also having some fun at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre and ice skating. We even spotted the Western Plain Wanderers!

Back at school, I have heard that the Grade 5 students have enjoyed a Science excursion to Echuca College and the Open Water Swimming has been a huge hit with the Year 3-5 students.

Echuca Twin Rivers School and Echuca Specialist School School Council meeting

Last night the ETRS and ESS School Councils met as we discussed the location of the schools. 2020 is a very exciting year with the opening of the gym called 'The Centre' and also our additional classrooms. At this stage we don't have a date when these will be handed over. I will keep you updated once we have more information. We will also update what the classroom spaces will be used for closer to the hand over date. The gym space is amazing and we are very lucky to have such a state of the art facility on our site.

The opportunity to bring the two School Councils together allowed us to brain storm some questions for the Co-location that we will work through and communicate with families. This included such things as how will bus travel work, what will the bell times be and how will inclusion work across both sites. It is a very exciting time for us and an amazing opportunity to put the Twin Rivers Education Precinct on the map.

The Echuca Specialist School are currently looking at a name change to incorporate Echuca Twin Rivers in their name and exploring uniform options.

If you have any questions about the Co-Location, please don't hesitate to contact me.

ETRS Video

If you haven't had a chance to view the new video on our school Facebook page and website, please go on and have a look. It showcases the great learning and facilities we have at Twin Rivers. Please share this on your Facebook page to get the message out their about the great work staff do here at Twin Rivers. A huge thank you to Justin Minchin for producing this video.

Thank you to all of the families who have contacted the office and updated personal details, including email addresses. Teachers will be able to help you with this at the Meet and Greet Chats next week.

This ensures we can effectively communicate with all families.  We are continuing to use the inewsletter platform to distribute news about the school each week.

Please contact us if you have any feedback about the newsletter. The newsletter will be now published on a Friday, the same day as our assembly.

We will upload the newsletter to the website and Facebook each week.

If you require a paper copy please contact the office.

Thank you to all of our families who have signed up to the Sentral Portal. All families have received their login for the parent portal.

Please note bookings are open for the Meet and Greet Parent Teacher conversations.

We encourage all families to come along to the chats next week. If you need help booking a time and cannot get on Sentral, please contact the office to assist you.

Meet and Greet Parent Teacher Conversations

This year our Meet and Greet conversations between families and teachers will take place on Tuesday 25th February from 1pm to 6pm. Students will be dismissed at 1pm on the day and asked to attend the conversation with families.

As a school, we feel that meeting your child's classroom teacher at the beginning of the year is invaluable in developing a positive home school partnership. We are also wanting students to be involved in this conversation to support their learning. If you need to speak with your child's teacher on your own, please don't hesitate to ask for another  meeting time.

Bookings will be made via Sentral for this terms meetings.

If your child is a bus traveller, we will supervise them with our specialist staff in the Library on the day. Please note all other students must be picked up.

School's Out is available for Out of School Hours Care on the day.

School Council Elections

We are seeking nominations for School Council in 2020.

If you would like to contribute to the school by being a part of the council please collect a nomination form from the office.

Our AGM for 2020 will be held at 6:00pm on Monday 23rd March, everyone is invited to attend.

School Council meetings will be held on a Monday this year.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Update

We are looking forward to our bulk order of Wally stickers arriving next week. Our students have been earning extra Wally stickers for showing responsibility by reading every night. Mrs Mathers and myself have been doing reading spot checks on a daily basis and awarding Wally stickers. Maybe your child's class will be next.

We will be hosting Lancefield Primary School staff at our school this week sharing our SWPB resources. We look forward to welcoming them to our  wonderful school.

Next Week's Behaviour  Focus

Our Value focus next week is Responsibility.

The SWPB focus is:

I will show respect by following teacher directions.

Save the Date

The PAG are currently in the midst of organising a Twilight Colour Run. This is our major fundraiser for the school year. We are raising money to purchase books for the classroom libraries.

We are hoping all families can join us on Thursday 12th March from 5.30pm. There will be a free sausage sizzle and lots of fun as members of the community join in the fun run. This event is open to members of the community and will be a great night.

Information was sent home this week. Please check your child's bag for more details or contact the Office.

We are hoping to organise a t-shirt for the event. If there are any families or any local companies that you know of that would like to support us with sponsorship of a t-shirt please let the office know.

Year Level Newsletters

All families will receive a Year Level Newsletter for each of your children at the start of next week. I apologise about the delay. This is due to technical issues.

The newsletter will contain information about the learning in Term One, important dates and a timetable. These newsletters will be published each term to inform parents of the great learning happening at ETRS.

These newsletters will be distributed in hard copy and also uploaded to the website.
