Production Update #2 - 1/8/18
This week, all students danced their hearts out in class. We have lots of groovy moves to learn and remember. I was blown away with the enthusiasm, skill and persistence shown by every single student. We created a 'safe space' in the Music room, where everyone was free to express themselves without judgement. Students supported and encouraged each other in true Monty style.
Prop and costume construction is well under way and the students are working with Mrs Gardner during Art lessons to create some masterpieces for the stage. Poor Mrs Gardner has had some extravagant and challenging ideas thrown her way by a certain over-ambitious music teacher, but has had wonderful assistance from the students and has taken on the challenge eagerly.
Thank you to all who have been able to donate cardboard so far. We are really keen for any plastics bags you may be able to spare. Please bring them to the Art room.
Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
Kind Regards,
Sarah Kechayas
Production update #1
The Monty students have started working towards their upcoming production, and everyone is very excited! This week, students learnt about the theme of the show, listened to the music and began discussing costume and prop ideas.
Grade 5/6 students were given the opportunity to audition for a speaking role in the show. We were inundated with enthusiastic participants and were blown away with the talent that presented. Congratulations to all who took part. The maturity and resilience shown by most students was truly inspiring.
Our first (of probably many) call outs for help, is for donations for us to make props and costumes from. If you can help us, please bring the following to the Art room:
- Large cardboard boxes
- Plastic bags (as rare as hens teeth these days)
- Intact beer boxes – slab/carton
In the coming weeks, we will be asking for volunteers to help with a range of different jobs, from sewing to painting etc. Please bear with us as we get organised – we will keep you posted and let you know when we need some assistance.
I plan to make these “Production Updates” a regular occurrence, to keep families up to date with how the process is going. Production is always a big task for all involved, so let’s work together to make it a fun and positive experience to remember.
Kind Regards,
Sarah Kechayas
