Parents and Friends Update
August is turning out to be a very busy month for P&F with many events on the calendar.
Hot Chocolate Days:
Hot Chocolate Day’s kicked off yesterday with many kids enjoying a warming hot cup of chocolate. Apparently there were a couple of “teething” issues with the last few batches, but please be assured that we will have this rectified next Tuesday and all batches should taste delicious!
Bunnings BBQ:
The Bunning’s BBQ has been booked for Sunday 12th September. A volunteers list is available at school reception. Thanks to everyone who has put their name down already, if you haven’t put your name down yet, head on into the office and pick a time of day you are able to help and write your name down. We will have quite a few shifts available as it’s quite a long day. Remember to tell your friends and family about it so they can head down, say hello and purchase a yummy sausage in bread! Who doesn’t love a sausage in bread on a cold winter’s day!
Book Fair:
Students, along with their teachers will be able to visit the “Scholastic bookshop” which will be set up in the Library space on Wednesday 22nd August and can purchase books of their choice if they wish. Alternatively, parents will be able to visit the shop on Friday 24th August before and after school to have a look at what’s on offer and/or purchase books for their child/children/family.
If you would like to help at the Book Fair (lunchtime onwards, 22nd August, 8am -9.30am and 3.00pm – 4pm on 24th August), it would be very much appreciated, please contact Claire Stronge on 0466 963 723.
Father’s Day Breakfast:
Father’s Day breakfast will be held on Friday 31st August. The menu is still being firmed up, but we will be sending out a Compass feed in the next two weeks so you can pre-book a delicious breakfast with your dad (and mum) that morning. Make sure you let your dad know.
Father’s Day Stall
Father’s Day stall will be held also on Friday 31st August. This will be held in the Art Section of the school. Please remember to bring some money on the day so you can spoil your dad with a great present. The stall will also be open during school pick-up in the afternoon, for any last minute gift purchases. There will be gifts for Grand Dad’s too!
Volunteer Lists at front desk.
I know this month in particular we are asking for lots of volunteers to help with our different activities. We are very grateful for any time you can volunteer to ensure all these events are a big success for our children and our School. Please remember to go and place your name against the activity you are able to help with at the front desk. Your help, in any capacity, is truly appreciated.
Election Day – Saturday 24th November
Polling will be held at our school again this election and we will be holding a mini market on the school grounds to show case our school and our amazing community.
Although it’s still a few months away, we need to start some preparations now to ensure we have beautiful produce to sell at our market.
The Stephanie Alexander Garden Kitchen will be making delicious preserves (citrus curds/marmalades etc), and are looking for donations of all kinds of citrus you may have at home that you could bring in for the kitchen to use. So if you have any spare, place it in a (environmentally friendly) bag and take it up to the kitchen, the more the better.
We will also be holding a plant stall (as well as many other stalls), so if you are a green thumb and have some plants/cuttings at home that you would like to start propagating into pots so they are developed enough to be ready for sale on the day that would be great. This could be a fun activity you can do with your children on a weekend. Even if you have some seeds you would like to plant now, so they’ve grown into lovely plants by November.
Next P&F Meeting
Our next meeting will be held Wednesday, August 15th 9.30am (or earlier if there are no reader helpers that day). And as always, everyone is welcome.
Thanks for your support.
