Preshil's Winter Holiday Program

A week of fun activities
Preshil has been running outstanding STEAM electives for several years now and we are very happy to announce that we will continue to offer these opportunities during the upcoming school holidays. This is a set program and places are limited to 12 students per day.
o CHESS with Jamie Kenmure (Chess Australia/Leonid Sandler): Have fun learning and playing chess and at the same time develop problem-solving skills and improve memory and patience.
o THEATRESPORTS with Adam Simon (Preshil IT): Students can participate in a variety of improvisation games to assist in developing their drama skills. There are literally hundreds of Theatresports games that you can play, helping develop essential skills for any student actor, like quick thinking, role play, imagination, improvisation, movement and physicality of characters.
o TENNIS with Ben Conway (Tennis Mad/Bill Madafferi): Bill and his team provide coaching for many Preshil students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced. We are offering the opportunity to enjoy a session in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
o PLANKS CONSTRUCTION with Cameron Lee (alumni/Greenhat Workshops): This will be a mix of design and engineering challenges and open-ended ‘make-whatever-you-want’ type play. You can use PLANKS to create all sorts of things. If you are interested in blocks and building stuff or intrigued by shape and balance then this is for you.
o ART AND MAKING with Bronte Howell: Come and join this fun freestyle ‘art hour’ using ready to recycle found waste!
o ARDUINO PROGRAMMING with Karl von Moller: Programming & Electrical Circuits – children will use coding and Arduino electronic components to solve problems and design circuits to create movement, light and sound using the new ‘Eureka’ learning shield for Arduino. It’s a great beginner project for boys and girls, which needs no experience, just a willingness to programme some code and have fun with electronics.
o KERBAL with Adam Simon (Preshil IT): Kerbal is a game designed to allow the player to experience the physics and complexities as well as the excitement and elation of building a rocket and piloting it into space, the magnitude of the universe and the imminent threat of explosions and death to those on board your craft. In the course, Adam covers a basic understanding of the physics terminology and concepts, the mechanical concepts of engineering a spacecraft, game interfaces, Ladder Logic Programming, long range navigation, aerodynamics, explosions and space! No experience necessary.
o FENCING with Pieter Leeuwenburgh: Students can experience the Olympic sport of fencing with a qualified coach and all equipment supplied. It is an intense sport with a very clear purpose, requiring a high level of both mental and physical speed and agility. However, it is also subtle and safe. A wide range of students can succeed as fencers.
o MAKING GYOZA DUMPLINGS with The Travelling Kitchen: Come and join this fun workshop, guaranteed to get kids excited about cooking.
