Middle Years

Classes are well and truly up and running for 2017.  Middle Years students have settled well into their new classes and are starting to acclimatise  to some of the changes for this year, including:  the introduction of Compass, Year 7 Laptops and new electives for the Year 9 students.

The Middle Years Sub School is constantly working with the students to ensure that they feel confident, motivated and connected to their peers while they are at the college.  One of the key programs that we run each year is the Inter Home Group Competition.  Each term Year Level Leaders facilitate a contest which places Home Group against Home Group in the battle for the title of Home Group Champions.  These competitions take many shapes and forms, however, they are all developed to promote team work, collaboration and provide students with opportunities to form stronger relationships with their peers and teachers.  Term 1 competitions for each Year Level are:

Year 7: Dodgeball

Year 8: Class Trivia Questions

Year 9: Dodgeball

Please watch bulletin notices on Compass for further information.

Another fantastic initiative that is run each year to assist students to get to know their peers and teachers, is the Year 7 Transition Camp.  This year, as has been the case for many previous years, the camp was at Oasis Camp in Mount Evelyn.  The camp had a great feeling.  The students thoroughly enjoyed the activities, from candle making to crate climbing.  It was also great to see the students stepping outside their comfort zone and getting to know so many new people and making so many new friendships.  This is a key event on our calendar each year as it ensures that the students have a smooth transition into their secondary schooling.
