Performing Arts

Well, It's been a huge term of Performance, Concerts, Events and musical excellence in the Performing Arts Department. As we look towards the end of Term, here's a snapshot of what's been happening over the past few weeks.

Several of our Ensembles and Bands have performed in Festivals and Eistedfodds this term. As part of the Victorian Schools Music Festival, the Concert Band received a Silver Shield and the Symphonic Band received a Gold Shield. VoxEns also sang at the Monash Youth Music Festival and performed brilliantly.

The combined String Orchestra performed for the first time at the South Street Eistedfodd in Ballarat and received an amazing 5th place out of a large section of schools from around the country. Then just days later the Symphonic Band took home 3rd Place is the Intermediate Bands Section. This was an outstanding achievement for both ensembles, as they were competing against some of Melbourne's leading music schools!

As part of the 2018 Ashton Community Awards, our senior vocal students were invited to entertain Award recipients and lead the National Anthem. The event was hosted by Alan Tudge MP and many other Federal and State MP's were in attendance. Congratulations to Maddie Wright, Holly Boscott and Kiara Rammanhor on a wonderful performance.

As part of the 2018 Victorian School Principals' annual conference, members of the Later Years and Middle Years Choir were invited to open the conference. They sang a rousing version of "This is Me" from The Greatest Showman Musical.

Just this past weekend, the Parents of Performing Arts hosted their annual Trivia Night. The night was so much fun with games, trivia, heaps of prizes. Together with some significant donations, we raised over $7000. With this money, we'll be able to set up some new initiatives in 2019 and continue to improve our instrumental inventory!

I wish you all a very restful term break and look forward to the excitement of Term 4. Please make sure you get your tickets for the 2018 Gala Concert. Tickets are selling very fast and we'd LOVE to perform to a sold out audience! Click here for Gala Concert Tickets.
