News from the Library

Congratulations to Piper Cartwright of 8S [first place winner] and Ryan Jones of 10B [second place winner] of the Book Week Treasure Hunt around the college! I hope you got something yummy with your prize vouchers.
Currently the Library is inspired by Ask a Stupid Question Day [September 28] to encourage visitors to risk asking questions; one person’s “stupid” is another person’s “brilliant”.
On that note, I would like to encourage students to read some non-fiction over the holidays just for pleasure: biographies of sportspeople or adventurers, the latest advances in your hobby, or magazine/internet articles on the latest discoveries. Who knows what new questions will pop up.
If science and/or technology are what you are interested in then good news, thanks to the generosity of those parents who contributed to the Library Fund, we have been able to order in extra science books!
Those that are keen to share their love of reading and/or meet new people, may be interested to know about a reading club that is happening at the Knox Libraries. I have included a flyer but if you are interested in knowing more, visit the knox.vic.gov.au/engage website or call Katie on 9298 8000. You could try it out on the school holidays.
A reminder also that next term ‘means business’ to many students at Wantirna College, with end of year tests, exams and a last chance to shine. In order to give students the chance to do their work in a quiet, studious environment, in Term 4 the Library Resource Centre will be banning all games during lunch time. This means no computer games, no card games, no
hand held games etc. Sorry to our regular players. Remember that “learning is the priority and must be maximized” so priority will always be given to those who need to study/read.
Regards,
Mrs Hall and the Library team
