Associate Principal, Operations Report

We have enjoyed the annual visit by the delegation of students and staff from Gaoyou Middle School this week. Thank you to the families who have assisted with billeting – I am sure you will have found this a very positive experience. Gaoyou students have attended classes, played some sport (we introduced one boy to hockey on Wednesday night!), mixed with our students and experienced some aspects of life in Western Victoria. They appear to be enjoying themselves and many will attend “Suessical” this weekend.
At the Welcoming Assembly on Wednesday, it was pleasing to hear several of our Year 12 students of Chinese speak. Ashwynn Samrai, Joshua Nichols and Liam Bell addressed the Assembly in Mandarin and English, further oral practice for their upcoming VCE examinations. Their pronunciation was deemed very good by our visitors and their confident delivery was impressive.
All VCE Unit 34 students who are taking a subject with a performance or oral examination should have received information from the VCAA via their subject teacher this week. They should have been given an information booklet and details of the date and time of their examination. Ashwynn, Josh and Liam, along with all our Chinese language students, have their oral exams in the first week back next term so they will need to plan to practise during the break. Music, Dance and French students have a little more time in the new term to prepare.
