Principal's Report

The Africans may have coined the phrase ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ but the Hamilton district has certainly mastered the philosophy.  After experiencing my first ‘Sheepvention’, I first hand witnessed a shining example of a great community initiative.  Sheepvention was such an impressive festival and a true credit to the vision and execution of the organising committee.   I thoroughly enjoyed the animals, the machinery and many attractive pavilions, but it was the pride and interest that each family shared in their local community that was most memorable.  Our own College students and staff were deeply involved whether helping in stands, modelling, serving at meals or just immersing themselves into this vibrant occasion.  We truly have much to be thankful for!

On another note, College also fared well in the Sheep and Cattle Judging Competitions.  Nikita Cavill placed 1st in the Over 15 Sheep Judging and 1st in the Overall Sheep Judging.  Zoe Puls and Holly McLeod finished 1st and 3rd in the Junior Sheep Judging while Shaun Roache and Hannah Russell were acknowledged for their participation.  Equally rewarding, Hamish Branson and Emily Ash placed 3rd and 4th respectively in the Junior Cattle Judging Competitions.  Fabulous achievements that follow last week’s success when Shaun Roache and Ayleish Beaty both placed 2nd in the Under 15 categories at the Coleraine Field and Game Shoot.
