Week 2, Term 4
A note was sent home this week requesting items for our current Topic unit, which involves our kids creating a stop motion animation.
During this learning sequence, titled ‘Frame by Frame’, your child will be practising thinking creatively as they develop a story with characters and settings. They will create a storyboard for part of their story and use their storyboard to create a stop motion animation.
Your child will use toys with bendable limbs in their animation. Could you please arrange for your child to bring some toys to school on or before 24th October. Please make sure that your child’s name or initials are printed on each toy.
We would also appreciate it if you can send along any shoeboxes that you may have at home for your child to use as a backdrop for their stop motion animation. Thankyou!
Students enjoyed celebrating Footy Colours Day at the end of our first week back. We did a variety of different footy themed activities and especially enjoyed participating in activities run by AFL Central Victoria. Thankyou to all those who were able to donate money towards supporting kids with cancer!
Mathematics: During our Fluid Maths Groups, we will be continuing to focus on the topic of 'Division', moving on to 'Fractions' in Week 4. We will also be looking at 'Symmetry' and 'Location and Transformation' during our Applied Maths sessions where students will have fun exploring grids, maps and symmetry pictures.
Writing & Reading: In Writing, students will be exploring how to use Dialogue and Boundary Punctuation correctly in our writing. In Reading, we will focus on different Comprehension and Accuracy strategies such as 'making a mental image' and 'trade a word/guess a word'.
Topic: Students are very excited to begin our 'Frame by Frame' unit where they will be creating a stop motion film. This fortnight we will be exploring 'Monkey Jam' (the program we will be using to film) and creating our props.
