Term 4, Week 2

Prep Reminders: 

  • Welcome back to Term 4! Can you believe that we are in the last term of Prep. 
  • A reminder that when students arrive at school each morning, they are to line up their bags outside and wait until the bell goes at 8.40am before coming inside.
  • A reminder to return any swimming notes that have yet to be returned ASAP. If you need another copy, please let your child's teacher know. 

What we have been up to...

Let's Get Moving

In the last two weeks of Term 3, the Preps did lots of dancing practise to get ready for our big performance. We were so proud of how they performed and also how they were able to watch the rest of the school do their performances. Thank you to all of the parents who came to watch!

 

Footy Colours Day

It was great to be able to have our Footy Colours Day last Friday! We had lots of fun doing Footy themed activities and doing a Footy Clinic. 

Upcoming Fortnight- Term 4

Week 3

Literacy: In Week 3, we will be learning about the sound that 'ee' and 'ea' make. We will be reading A Squash and A Squeeze by Julia Donaldson. The heart word for Week 3 is 'you' and we will continue to revise the heart word 'of'.

 

Mathematics: In Maths, we will be continuing to work on adding numbers together using the strategy of 'bridging to 10'. We will also be learning about mass and reviewing length and capacity.

 

RRRR: Gender and Identity- anyone can choose. In this lesson, we will demonstrate self expression. We will discuss what boys and girls can do regardless of gender and what we should do if someone tells us that we can't do something just because we are a girl or a boy.

 

Topic: We will continue learning about the important people in our community. This week we will be talking about how the firefighters can help us. We will also be having our first Fire Safety Education visit. 

 

Week 4

Literacy: In Week 4, we will be learning about the sound that 'y' can make when it is on the end of a word (e sound like in ugly, happy, silly). We will be reading The Ugly Five by Julia Donaldson. The heart word for Week 4 is 'said' and we will continue to revise the heart word 'too'.

 

Mathematics: In Maths, we will be learning about subtraction and 3D shape. 

 

RRRR: Gender and Identity- Everyone can be strong and gentle. This lesson will allow us to practise being both strong and gentle in the way we move, handle objects and work with others. We will talk about when it is important to be able to be both strong and gentle at the same time. 

 

Topic: We will continue learning about the important people in our community. This week we will be continuing to learn about how the firefighters can help us. We will be having our second Fire Safety Education visit.
